Marangu day tour with Kilipeak Adventure involves going up to the first camp Mandara hut (2720m) and coming back via the same route on the same day. There is a drive about 45km from Moshi town, which will take 45-minutes and 2 Hours from Arusha Town. At Marangu gate, we will do park gate formalities before starting our hike after all logistics are done our climb will officially start with three to four hours walking to the Mandara encampment.

Marangu gate is 1879m above sea level and the distance to Mandara hut is 8km (16 km round trip), which will take 3 to 4 hours for each direction. Lunch can be saved at the Camp Mandara or at the picnic site on the way to Mandara, thereafter you will start to descend down to Marangu gate and drive back to Moshi or Arusha for accommodation end of the Day Tour Mt. Materuni Village Waterfalls and Coffee Lesson

A day tour to Materuni village Waterfalls and the Coffee lesson will give you an opportunity to familiarize yourself with one of the ethnic groups of the Chagga tribe [Wauru] which is still an authentic tribal village. This charming place is located just 15 kilometer North-East of Moshi Town and is the last village before the Kilimanjaro National Park.

You will be picked up from the hotel/lodge and driven to Materuni Village. Upon arrival, you will register at the village office and your trip can begin with the visit to the waterfalls, which are around a 40-minute walk away. On the way, your guide will inform you about the culture of the Chagga tribe, village life and explain the surrounding fauna and flora. The views are truly breathtaking, and with some luck, you will see the view of Mount Kilimanjaro. When you reach the waterfalls, you will see that they are more than 80 meters high. On the bottom of the waterfall, there is an amazing pool which is a good place for a refreshing swim so you might as well bring your swimwear.

After having enjoyed the scenery, you slowly return with your guide to Materuni village, where you will experience a traditional Chagga lunch. You also will have the opportunity to taste our local banana beer – definitely not to be missed. Next, the coffee experience awaits you, here you will learn how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted, and further processed. You will also be invited to help with the grinding of the coffee, which is traditionally accompanied by Chagga songs and dances – a fun way to immerse yourself in the local culture. Before you say goodbye and return in the afternoon to Moshi, you can savor the coffee you made and appreciate the views of the surrounding rain forest.

Marangu Village Walking and Cultural Tour

Down of the foothill of Mt. Kilimanjaro outside the entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park lays the beautiful village of Marangu. Here, locals have planned various walking tours through valleys and numerous waterfalls depicting mountain village life.

Visitors can conveniently commence a half-day or full-day walking tour. Come enjoy the beautiful scenery of Kilimanjaro in the background without bearing freezing cold temperatures or exerting five days of physical strain.

Walking through fantastic impressions of numerous waterfalls the visitor will enjoy and learn more things like Chagga history, foods, and language. Mountain climbing enthusiasts will be delighted to visit the home and memorial of the late Yohano Lauwo, a local who guided Dr. Hans Meyer on the first recorded climb of Kilimanjaro in 1889.
