Group Program Description
Day 1: Arrive in Tanzania.
A staff member of Kilipeak Adventure will pick you up from the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). From here you will be driven to your hotel in Arusha is a perfect place to prepare for your adventure.
We will gather in the hotel for a pre-safari briefing- Accommodation at Lodge / Tented Camp or Basic Public Campsite – Meals plan: Lunch, Dinner, and Breakfast
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, our safari jeep with a professional guide picks you up for an exciting journey to Tarangire National Park. Though smaller in size, Tarangire offers excellent game viewing opportunities. During the dry season, the park truly comes alive as wildlife and birdlife congregate around the Tarangire River, a permanent source of water.
We spend the day exploring the park’s diverse habitats and enjoying sightings of elephants, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, buffaloes, and many bird species. In the late afternoon, we make a short journey from the park to our special tented camp.
Accommodation options include a lodge beautifully set inside the park with stunning views and a unique atmosphere, a tented camp, or a basic public campsite- Meals plan: Lunch, Dinner, and Breakfast
Day 3: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park
We head toward Serengeti National Park with a picnic lunch. En route, there is an opportunity to visit Olduvai Gorge, a steep-sided ravine where Louis and Mary Leakey made some of the world’s most important archaeological discoveries in the 1950s. At the small museum, we can view evidence of early human ancestors dating back 2.5 million years.
After lunch, we continue into the Serengeti itself. The rest of the afternoon is spent game viewing across the vast plains, broken only by stands of acacia trees and the occasional kopje. During December, January, and February, we often encounter the great migration, with large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles. Resident wildlife is plentiful year-round, including giraffes, buffaloes, and elephants, along with many large predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
In the evening, we return to our special tented camp for dinner and overnight stay. Accommodation at Lodge / Tented Camp or Basic Public Campsite- Meals plan: Lunch, Dinner, and Breakfast
Day 4: Serengeti National Park (Full day)
We have another full day to enjoy this wonderful park, rising early to make the most of our time. Our guides will select the best wildlife viewing locations depending on the season. We may spend time at the Hippo Pool, watching these majestic animals laze in the cool water alongside crocodiles. We might encounter a large pride of lions, or find ourselves in the midst of the great migration—sometimes surrounded by wildebeest, other times by zebras traveling alongside them.
From the wide-open plains, we journey to the kopjes, volcanic rocky outcrops that provide shelter and protection for many species. From the top, we can gaze across the vast Serengeti grasslands. This diverse and fascinating landscape offers the ultimate game viewing experience. We hope to see all the plains game: elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and lions. With luck, we may also spot the elusive leopard or cheetah. Birdlife is abundant too, ranging from elegant secretary birds to the impressive flightless ostrich.
In the evening, we return to our special tented camp for dinner and overnight stay, Accommodation at Lodge / Tented Camp or Basic Public Campsite- Meals plan: Lunch, Dinner, and Breakfast
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater (Full day)
We begin the day with an early morning game drive in Serengeti National Park before heading toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ngorongoro is unique in that it is a Conservation Area rather than a National Park; this means the land is managed for both wildlife and the local Maasai people, who graze their cattle alongside the indigenous animals.
During the drive into Ngorongoro, there is an opportunity to glimpse aspects of the Maasai way of life. After stopping at the entrance gate, you can learn more about this fascinating volcanic landscape before descending into the Ngorongoro Crater.
The crater walls form a natural sanctuary for wildlife, offering excellent viewing opportunities. Expect to see lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos, and—if you’re lucky—leopards. Interestingly, giraffes are absent here, as their long legs make it difficult to navigate the steep crater walls.
In the late afternoon, we travel back to our hotel in Karatu for dinner and overnight stay, Accommodation at Lodge / Tented Camp or Basic Public Campsite-Meals plan: Lunch, Dinner, and Breakfast
Day 6: Maasai Tour to Arusha.
Today you’ll experience the culture and traditions of the local Maasai on the way to Arusha. Your local guide will show you a Maasai Boma and explain the way in how Maasai lives; after a short visit to the Maasai boma, we will drive back to Arusha, Accommodation at Lodge / Basic Public Campsite – Meals plan: Lunch, Dinner, and Breakfast
